Get Out to the Mann this Summer to Enjoy Live Concerts Under the Stars!

Come to the Mann Center for the Performing Arts this summer to enjoy live entertainment in a beautiful outdoor facility.  The venue has nearly 5,000 covered seats, 4,500 outdoor seats, plus a 4000-person capacity lawn, open for general admission.  This summer, don’t miss the traditional summer series of Philadelphia Orchestra concerts, as well as many other performances by world-class artists.  Dine outside during a concert with restaurant mogul Stephen Starr’s Crescendo, which features a selection of seasonally inspired menus packaged for the picnic set. Come to the Mann for one of the free, Young People’s Concert Series performances, where children from the Philadelphia School District, the Department of Recreation and hundreds of other cultural, civic and religious organizations are able to enjoy these fun performances by professional and emerging artists, and become inspired by the talents of others their own age.

IndepenDance Rocks on August 4th at 11:00 am: The Rock School for Dance Education celebrates a decade of dance at The Mann Center. Relish the fusion of classical ballet, modern dance, rhythmic gymnastics, mime, urban hip-hop moves and grooves in this exhilarating dance explosion brought to you by the renowned Rock School.

Reservations are not required for groups of less than 30.

All concerts are free and open to the public.

Gates open one half hour prior to performances; parking is FREE!

Seating is general admission, and is on a first come, first served basis.

There are no tickets issued for these events.

Programs, dates, and artists are subject to change.

International Dance Voyage on August 10th at 11:00 am: Flamenco Ole! and the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble take the audience on a cultural journey through Spain and Africa while they experience the deep-rooted traditions of flamenco dance and African rhythms.

Saturday, August 15, 7:30 pmJohn Legend plus India.Arie and Vaughn Anthony

This performance was originally scheduled for August 5th but has now changed to August 15th.

Catch the six-time Grammy Award winner on Saturday, August 15 as he performs many of his classic hits in addition to his biggest songs from his 2008, chart-topping album Evolver.

Multi-platinum recording artist John Legend will be performing at the Mann for one night only as part of his U.S. tour to support his chart-topping album Evolver, which has remained a success since its 2008 debut.  The six-time Grammy Award winner, known for connecting with fans during his dynamic live shows, will feature many of his biggest singles from Evolver like “Green Light” and “Everybody Knows” to the classic songs from his previous albums – all backed by an extraordinary 11-piece band.

Legend will be joined by special guest India.Arie, whose recent album Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Polics, recently debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard charts.

Tuesday, August 18, 8:00 pm – Contemporary Concerts - Celebrating the 40th Anniversary The Heroes of Woodstock

Come relive your hippie days as you sit on the lawn and watch your favorite bands perform many 40th Anniversary Woodstock favorites.

Featuring Jefferson Starship (”White Rabbit” and “Somebody to Love”), Ten Years After (”I’m Going Home”), Canned Heat (”Going Up the Country”), Big Brother & The Holding Co. (”Piece of My Heart” and “Ball & Chain”) and the Grateful Dead’s Tom Constanten (”Music of the Dead”) hosted by Country Joe McDonald (”I Feel Like I’m Fixin’ To Die Rag”). Come relive the days of Woodstock with some of the featured artists of this venerated event.
