On April 3, 49 people braved rain and sleet while camped out at VILLA for the April 4 launch of Hip Hop artist and formidable fashion expert Kanye West’s new sneaker, the Air Yeezy – a collaboration with Nike resulting in 3 different colorways, to be released a month apart. The second release in the Air Yeezy line comes out Saturday, May 2; and again, VILLA, the area’s leading specialty retailer of urban-inspired apparel and footwear products, is the location in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley that will be carrying these exclusive, and much hyped, kicks. As a testament to the sneaker’s exclusivity, VILLA will only have 18 pairs on hand to sell, and will be carrying them at the 52nd & Market St. location.

For May 2, West releases the black-on-black color pattern, which includes accents of pink. The black color scheme will include the same glow in the dark features as the April-released Zen Grey and Light Charcoal colorway, along with the GITD sole and Nike Swoosh. Product photos are attached.
Equipped with debossed ankle collar pods for added support and protection, extra-thick sock liners, a forefoot support strap, original functional tension lace loops, and Phylon tooling taken from the 1987 Nike Air Assault for added performance and comfort—all developed and integrated with one goal in mind: to keep Kanye on lock down in cushioned comfort during his performances during his many notoriously strenuous artistic live performances.

These performance attributes have been meticulously wrapped in premium full grain leather uppers and adorned with original design details that are uniquely Kanye and identifiably Nike. The remastered Nike Air Assault outsole is treated to glow-in-the-dark properties and will illuminate when the light is low. The forefoot support strap is premium grade patent leather and is of no-stitch construction. Clean seams are used throughout except for a premium suede toe wrap feature with visible stitch detail. Emblazoned across the Air Yeezy is an exclusive “Y” repeat pattern, as either a debossed or lasered detail, which takes inspiration from the Jordan brands iconic Elephant print material.

The Air Yeezys will be available in three color patterns, each to be released a month apart. The Zen Grey and Light Charcoal painted “Yeezy” was released on April 4, followed by the Black on Black on May 2, and finally, the Net/Net (beige) combo in June.

The price tag for the shoes is $215.
