MANNA – Pie in the Sky

November 7, 2008

MANNA’S PIE IN THE SKY

Marking its 12th consecutive year, Pie in the Sky is presented for the first time by US Airways. With the goal of selling 14,000 pies to raise $400,000, this event is MANNA’s largest fundraiser. From now until November 19, a selection of five gourmet pies will be on sale for $25 – $35 each, with all proceeds benefiting MANNA’s mission – to deliver vital nourishment to individuals and families who are coping with life-threatening illnesses. The sale of the pies makes it possible for MANNA to deliver three nutritious meals, seven days a week to clients throughout the Delaware Valley.

The 2008 Pie in the Sky selections include: Apple Crumb, Pumpkin, Southern Pecan,
Sweet Potato, and the new US Airways SkyPie. Each pie makes a perfect holiday gift for a friend or a scrumptious holiday dessert for your own family. As heavenly in opportunity as it is in taste, the purchase of a US Airways SkyPie pie includes entry into a raffle for US Airways travel vouchers (valued at $1,000). Another special feature of Pie in the Sky is the MANNA Signature Pie Server, a deluxe stainless steel server with a dishwasher safe handle imprinted with the MANNA logo and website. It is a wonderful way to serve your pies in style and show your support of MANNA at the same time! Pies are $25 – $35 each and the MANNA Signature Pie Server is $5; orders can be placed online on MANNA’s website www.mannapa.org or by calling 1-866-SKY-PIES (1-866-759-7437).

Pie in the Sky embodies the spirit of MANNA’s services. Pie in the Sky makes a substantial difference in the lives of MANNA’s clients, nourishing both body and soul 365 days of the year. “MANNA needs everyone to buy pies for meals that heal. Every $25 pie provides nutritious meals for our clients facing life threatening illness,” added Richard Keaveney, Executive Director of MANNA. “Now that we provide 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, the success of PIE IN THE SKY and raising $400,000 is more important than ever.”

Pie in the Sky is an enormous undertaking, and MANNA is seeking individuals and groups to help us reach for the sky. “The success of Pie in the Sky relies heavily on the support of everyone in the community, from the pie sellers and teams who help sell pies using e-cards on our new website, to volunteers who help deliver pies,” said Meg Rider, Director of Events and Communications at MANNA. “And the best part is that for every pie sold, someone living with a life-threatening illness receives a nutritious meal every day.” Please contact Sue Aistrop at 215-496-2662 ext.120 or saistrop@mannapa.org for volunteer opportunities.

MANNA currently serves clients in the Pennsylvania counties of Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia; and the New Jersey counties of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem.
