National Constitution Center
November 4, 2008
Welcome to the National Constitution Center, America’s only museum dedicated to the United States Constitution. Like the revolutionary document itself, the museum is completely unique. Here, visitors of all ages have the chance to experience history and learn how “We, the People” can make a difference through over 100 interactive multimedia exhibits. Come with me as we check it out!
The visitor experience starts in the Kimmel Theater, where you will see “Freedom Rising,” an award-winning, multimedia production that combines a live actor, surprise scenic elements, a dynamic soundtrack, and 360 degree video projection.
Following “Freedom Rising,” you will enter the Center’s main exhibition, The Story of We the People, where you truly become a part of history. Here you can vote for your favorite president, sit at a replica Supreme Court bench, serve on a jury, take the presidential Oath of Office, and much more,
Signer’s Hall is the last stop on your tour. Here, you can wander among life-sized bronze statues of 42 men: the 39 delegates who signed the Constitution and the three who refused to sign. Each statue is as lifelike and accurate as possible, so you truly feel as though you are a part of history as you tour the room.
Here, you can also see the first public printing of the United States Constitution.
The National Constitution Center is located at 525 Arch Street on Philadelphia’s Independence Mall - just two blocks from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Museum hours are Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.
Admission is $12 for adults, $11 for seniors ages 65 and up, $8 for children ages 4 through 12, and $7.50 for groups of 20 or more. Active military personnel and children ages 3 and under are free.
