StreetTalkin – 2010 Polar Bear Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics, Saturday, January 30 at Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, PA
January 19, 2010
On Saturday, January 30, 2010, come out to Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, PA to participate in the annual Polar Bear Plunge, where you and your group enter a cold body of water in order to raise money for Special Olympics.
Plunge participants set a fundraising goal and get pledges from family, friends and colleagues for their commitment to be “freezin’ for a reason.” The Eastern Polar Plunge benefits more than 20,000 Special Olympics Pennsylvania athletes – the state’s largest year-round organization devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. By being a part of the Plunge challenge, you are allowing thousands upon thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities to experience a brighter tomorrow. So dare to Plunge!
Participation in The Polar Plunge is a fantastic way to build “Team Spirit.” We invite corporate teams as well as school and community teams to set up a tent and hang their company/school or team banner. This will give your team a meeting place and the opportunity for team pictures. If your team is interested in setting up a tent, you must pre-register online, via email at dpoole@specialolympicspa.org, or by calling the Special Olympics Pennsylvania State Office at 610-630-9450, ext. 226. It’s that easy! Make your reservations today!
Plungers will also participate in a costume contest; feed their hunger by visiting various concession stands, and build lasting friendships and one “frigidly fantastic memory.”
